About Us

Local faith-based groups, service organizations, and concerned community members have joined together to form the Refugee Resettlement Coalition of Lane County.  The coalition partners with Catholic Community Services of Lane County (CCS) to welcome and support refugees and asylum seekers in Lane County.  Through its Refugee and Immigrant Services Program (RISP), CCS serves refugees, asylum seekers, people with have gained asylum (asylees), and other immigrants.

Services are provided by two part-time RISP staff and volunteers from the Refugee Resettlement Coalition, Volunteers serve as advocates for a newly resettled refugee (we provide training for this role), language tutors and language interpreters, and other tasks related to welcoming and supporting refugees and immigrants in our community.  If you would like to volunteer, go to the Volunteer page within the Get Involved tab on our webpage.

RISP provides case-managed assistance to immigrants and refugees in accessing housing, employment, physical and mental health services, social services, English as a Second Language classes, and other community resources. RISP also provides low-cost legal services  in coordination with an immigration attorney from Catholic Charities in Portland, Asylum seekers and asylees often need assistance with citizenship applications, work authorizations, and status adjustments.
